Weight Project

Image
Hi, all! For this assignment, I had to demonstrate weight and have a character struggle with managing something heavy. It took a little bit for the idea to come to mind but once I got it, the rest was relatively smooth sailing. I'm starting to see how animation can be a long process; I would have loved to make this cleaner but I didn't have enough time to unfortunately. Oh, and here was the reference sheet I made for my character too. I'll be coloring it as well as including a reference for the robot arm as well. Not only is that hunk of metal important for the lore, but it is a pain to draw and I need some consistency with it. Speaking of, I need to be more consistent with his lore too... That's for another day though! For now, enjoy my stuff!

Head Turning Assignment

I was super ambitious for this assignment I'll make that clear right now. Perhaps a little TOO ambitious. The assignment was supposed to be a character doing a simple head turn and yet I tried to incorporate the whole upper body as well. Little did I know how long that was going to take me, especially since I was cleaning up the lines as well. Did I have fun though? Yes! While I do feel that I could have done better with it (more easing with every turn would be nice), I was happy with myself since I finally brought one of my characters to life. His name is Leonard and while I would LOVE to go into more detail about him, I want to keep everything under the wraps for now.  One day I would like to show him off to the world though.  I know for the next assignment I'm going to feature Leo as well and that will be with weight. Until then, enjoy him trying to be a little sneak and failing.

Pantomime

Double feature today! Finally getting into the nitty-gritty of 2D animation and I’m loving it. For this assignment, I tried my hand at animating a flour sack trying to chase a fly. Again, I tried to add more to the scene but I ran out of time. I swear it’s not me being lazy. Thus was my 3rd or 4th attempt at doing this because I was not satisfied with my results. There were some seriously amazing flour sack animations in my class and that inspired me to do better.  Hope that you all enjoy it!

Overlapping Action

Image
I need to remember to update this... Here’s another assignment I have done and this time it was with overlapping action. For this, I decided to use a crane machine for the swinging since I’ve had so many experiences with them throughout my childhood.  I initially wanted to add more to it such as the crane closing and pulling a plush out, but I ran out of time. I think I’m starting to get the hang of animation but I know there’s a lot more for me to learn. The biggest skill I would like to master is efficiency since it feels like I take too long focusing on the little things. Here’s hoping!
